Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
ARRIVAL PROCEDURES
Students may be dropped off in the car line, in front of the school, beginning at 7:45. No student is to be left unattended before the door opens. If this occurs, child protective services will be contacted. If parents choose, they may park in the lot and walk their students into the building; however, only students and staff are allowed beyond the lobby (brown tiles) during the school day, with the exception of special events designated by the principal. You may not walk your child to class. This is for the safety of all children and staff. Everyone who comes on campus should first check in at the front desk/main office and present a photo ID.
Parents are a valuable partner in educating our children. If you are interested in staying tovolunteer, you should check in at the front desk and head to a designated volunteer space. All volunteers must be pre approved by administration and must be integral to the educational programming. It is important that we not only protect instructional time, but also protect our children’s privacy and safety. Thanks in advance for your cooperation with this procedure.
Car riders should not arrive before 7:45 a.m. unless they are enrolled in the School Age Child Care Program (which is located around back at our back cafe door). After 7:45 a.m. students MUST BE DROPPED OFF AT THE MAIN ENTRANCE ONLY! Instruction begins promptly at 8:15 am each morning, so it is suggested that all learners be dropped off by 8:05 am so they have time to get to class and get settled before instruction begins.
Students should go to the cafeteria if they are eating breakfast or go straight to his or her classroom if they ate breakfast at home.
LATE ARRIVALS
The tardy bell rings at 8:15 a.m. Instruction at LVES begins promptly at 8:15 am. Parents are expected to come to the lobby desk and sign in their child if they arrive after 8:15 am. Students must pick up a tardy slip in the lobby to take to their classroom. Excessive tardiness is reported to the Social Worker/Attendance Officer. Students who are tardy due to a doctor or dentist appointment must show proof of the appointment to be excused. Students who exhibit chronic tardiness will be referred to the school social worker for intervention.
DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
In the afternoon, all car riders will be dismissed from their classrooms via walkie talkie. All drivers will be required to have a LVES car tag before a child will be allowed to be dismissed.
Car riders must be picked up no later than 3:35 p.m. You may not walk up to the school to retrieve your child to avoid the car line. Please keep in mind that ensuring all children are safely dismissed to the appropriate caregiver is our top priority.
Bus riders will be dismissed from their class to the bus hallway. Students who attend SACC will be dismissed from their classrooms to the cafeteria.
Please do not park behind the school and attempt to come in and get your child to avoid the car line. Again, procedures for dismissal are in place for the safety of your child. We appreciate in advance your cooperation and compliance with these procedures.
EARLY DISMISSALS
Educational time is important for our students. Please support our teachers by not checking a student out for early dismissal unless absolutely necessary. Parents who repeatedly dismiss students early will be reported to the Social Worker/Attendance Officer.
Parents or designated persons may check a student out during the school day by coming to the lobby, providing proper identification, and signing out the student through the Raptor System.
The student will then be called to the lobby for dismissal. Parents are not to go to the classroom to retrieve students. This is a great disruption to valuable instruction time. Please send a note with the student in the morning if he or she will be picked up early (when possible) so that the teachers will know in advance.
There will be no early dismissals or changes in transportation after 2:30 pm each day. This is for your child’s safety. The end of the day can be a hectic time in the office.
Again, we appreciate in advance your compliance with this procedure.
